We had a wonderful meal at Roku last week. The space worked wonderfully, feeling cosy and intimate. The front of house staff were welcoming and knowledgeable about the dishes. Each dish was so carefully thought out, a perfect balance of flavours and textures. The addition of Japanese flavours and ingredients was incredible. I loved the Gin and Rose cocktail and look forward to trying more. Huge well done to Martin and the team, we can't wait to come again!

The most amazing experience! The food was delicious, so fresh and interesting and beautifully cooked. We found out afterwards that it was the first night of a new menu but we never guessed because everything was spot on, congratulations to the chefs, such talent. The front of house staff were so warm and friendly as well as being very knowledgable about the food, Lily even helped us when our taxi home cancelled last minute (huge thank you!!). Could not recommend more highly and we hope to be back soon!

We were blown away by this restaurant, the service was absolutely amazing, the staff were welcoming and friendly, they’ve created a wonderful calm and inviting atmosphere and of course the food was absolutely brilliant, each course was equally delicious as it was inventive, for the full experience I recommend getting the wine pairing with each course, someone has clearly put a lot of thought into the pairings and each dish is perfectly complimented by the different wines. When we came to our final course I wish we could have started all over again. We will definitely be back!

What an incredible experience. We did the tasting menu and the food was exceptional. Not only was it all delicious but the creativity of the dishes is what made me love this place. Each dish (6 total and 2 extras) were faultless, and were expertly explained and broken down to us by Lily our front of house server for the night. Lily was a brilliant front of house and really knew the details of every dish in detail. Lily also went above and beyond by making us a cocktail that wasn’t on the menu and even went out to source the extra ingredients for it. That level of care and attention is what sets this place apart. I really appreciated the way they choose a protein and use every single part of it throughout all their dishes to save waste and cook with that in mind. Massive compliments to the chefs who really know their stuff and are also really creative with the dishes. Pictured was my two favourite dishes of the night, their own take on a surf and turf and lobster roll. I really can’t wait to go back and will make it a priority when we are next in North Devon. Thanks again to everyone at Roku for a top class experience

vegan tasting menus and fine dining restaurants all over the world, but this meal was equally amazing—even though Roku isn’t specifically vegan. They went out of their way to curate an entirely vegan tasting menu just for me, adapting their vegetarian dishes and making me feel completely taken care of. The chickpea “lobster” roll was my favourite dish by far (I would eat 10 of these), and the BBQ peas were also outstanding. The only dish that wasn’t amazing was the aubergine, which was a bit bland for my taste, but honestly, I can’t complain since they created a whole menu for me. 10/10 would recommend if you want a thoughtful, delicious experience with genuinely kind service. Can’t wait to go back!

We had a fantastic experience at the wonderful Roku. From the, a quaint entrance... into a truly stunning interior, which will make you feel calm and tranquil. Paint colour choices and ambient lighting have been selected with great thought. A small bar area for pre drinks, and I love the choice of a small log burner to add to the hygge. Lily greeted me with big smiles as usual, we loved her at New Coast, and it's so nice to see a familiar face who's passionate about hosting. The seating is beautifully curved benches and rounded tables, which means you're always on the view of the server, who can then share with you each course in detail whilst facing you. I really liked this and enhanced the experience. I loved every course. Beautiful soft flavours. Some elements explosive flavours like the lime gel and red pepper emulsion. I loved different cooking techniques like the Japanese bbq to finish the sea bass. The hot and cold elements on the Asparagus dish were so fun, a great talking point between myself and my partner. The cucumber sorbet was really interesting, a fantastic cleansing of the pallete. We really enjoyed the optional extra cheese course. We shared 1 between us, and it was certainly one not to miss. A creamy and tangy blue cheese covered at your table in a raspberry infused honey and accompanied by a treacle tart. Both of us are not blue cheese fans, but the elements together worked in harmony. The sweetness of the treacle tart helped cut through the sharp lactic acidity of the cheese. Creating a mellow mossy creamy flavour. It was awesome! I could go on and on and on... just go! I overheard that the menu changes seasonally... so my guess is the summer menu is just round the corner. So many lovely little elements to this restaurant. I cannot wait till our next visit

We came on a full Thursday night, but the atmosphere was still super chill and relaxing. The lay out of the restaurant, utilising the booth seating, is really well done and creates an intimate setting. We really loved the whole menu but my personal favourites of the evening were the lamb tatar on brioche, the sea bass and the basil panna cotta, such a different dish for me as I’ll always go for chocolate dessert - so it was nice to be pushed to try something new! I really liked the chefs bringing the food to the table as well as the front of house, it really showed the whole personality of the team and the care that’s gone into the whole process. Thanks guys, we’ll definitely be back!
